Mattress manufacturer Simmons Bedding Co. has donated bed sets to Atlanta-area fire stations and a homeless shelter serving families of infants. In the second year of its Firehouse Recharge initiative, Atlanta-based Simmons gave 114 Beautyrest bed sets to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department. Most beds went to five fire stations serving the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Simmons delivered 36 new mattress sets to Genesis Shelter, a nonprofit providing shelter and support to homeless families caring for infants. Genesis recently merged with Our House Inc., a charity with a similar mission on whose board Simmons holds a seat.
“We’re happy to do our part in supporting the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department’s lifesaving work in the city we’re proud to call home,” said Simmons President Tony Smith. “(We have) long supported Our House’s mission to eradicate the cycle of homelessness in our city and, in turn, we are proud to help Genesis Shelter move one step closer to achieving this goal.”
