SSA Elects Officers

The Specialty Sleep Association has named Mark Miller as board chair; re-elected Angela Owen and Roger Coffey as vice chair and secretary/treasurer, respectively; and elected first-time board member Sarah Budensiek to a three-year term.

Mark Miller

Miller is president and chief executive officer of Denver-based specialty sleep manufacturer InnoMax Corp. He replaces Todd Youngblood of T2 International, who completed a two-year term as board chair. Miller is a longtime advocate of specialty sleep technologies since beginning his career in the early 1970s with several waterbed retailers. Denver-based InnoMax is a one-stop retailer resource for all specialty sleep needs, and is the sole temperature-control waterbed producer in North America, according to a news release.

Angela Owen

Owen is founder, principal and “sleep diva” of mattress and accessories maker Suite Sleep, with headquarters in Boulder, Colorado. She is an outspoken advocate for natural, healthy, sustainable products for the home and family. She established her mattress company in 2003 and has been a vocal supporter of “sustainable bedding” for 12 years, a news release said. She also led the SSA steering committee responsible for developing its BedFax labeling program.

Roger Coffey

Coffey is president of industry supplier Latexco West LLC, based in Santa Fe Springs, California. He has an extensive background in developing, fabricating and marketing polyurethane and latex foams for specialty sleep products. He founded Sleep Comp West, a supplier of latex mattress cores and toppers, which he sold to Tielt, Belgium-based Latexco-NV in 2006.

Sarah Budensiek

Budensiek is vice president of marketing and creative with protection and accessories supplier PureCare, based in Fairfield, New Jersey. As a graphic designer, she has fused creativity and visual communication to enhance the voice of countless brands, a news release said.

“Having Miller, Owen and Coffey in leadership roles will help the SSA fulfill its dual mission of embracing consumer transparency in regard to mattresses and bedding, and promoting the unique advantages of specialty sleep products,” said Dale Read, SSA president. “Budensiek will play a vital role by bringing both her energy and experience as well as her marketing talents to the SSA board.”
