Manufacturer Symbol Mattress, based in Richmond, Virginia, has promoted two executives to new positions. Ron Clevenger was named chief executive officer and Mike McQuiston president.
Clevenger served as president since 2012, and McQuiston joined the company in 2010 as executive vice president.
The promotions are part of an ongoing plan to realign top management, the company said in a news release.
“Both men have been instrumental in the renewed growth of Symbol, and we have every confidence in their performance going forward,” said Charles Neal, company chairman.
The mattress maker also has named bedding industry veteran James O’Toole as Northeast regional sales manager.O’Toole has more than 20 years in the mattress industry and most recently had been regional sales director of the North Atlantic region for mattress major Tempur Sealy International. He was responsible for 18 account managers and field sales coordinators in New York, New Jersey, the Philadelphia area, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine and Vermont. Prior to that, he held a number of sales management posts with Sealy before its acquisition by Tempur-Pedic.
In his new position, O’Toole who is based in Myersville, Maryland, reports to both Mike McQuiston and Nick Hrkman, Symbol national sales manager.
“Jim has proven expertise in new business development, in creating merchandising and advertising strategies to help drive bottom line results, and in team building, training and leadership,” McQuiston said. “We’re very excited to have him on the Symbol team, and we’re extremely confident of the level of sales contributions he’ll make in the Northeast.”
