Serta Simmons Expands Manufacturing Footprint, Matches Retailers’ Ad Spending

Mattress manufacturing major Serta Simmons Bedding LLC is investing more than $100 million in new manufacturing plants and a multiyear advertising strategy, according to a news release from the Atlanta-based company.

In 2017, Serta Simmons will add four large facilities to its existing network of more than 30 plants. The buildings are complete and the company currently is fitting them with the latest equipment, as well as hiring and training a skilled workforce. Each plant is strategically located in a high-demand area: Houston; Moreno Valley, California; Seattle; and Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

In addition to running 2017 Serta and Beautyrest national advertising campaigns, SSB has introduced a co-op advertising strategy known as the Advantage Marketing Program, which it matches, dollar for dollar, the advertising investments of its retailers.

“As the largest bedding manufacturer in the United States, we are committed to meeting the needs of all of our retail partners and helping them grow their business,” said Michael Traub, Serta Simmons chief executive officer. “Retailer response to our 2017 Serta and Beautyrest lines has been fantastic. We are excited to continue to invest in manufacturing in the United States, while also increasing consumer brand awareness to better support our retailers.”
