Out of four industrial countries, the United States is expected to lose the most jobs to automation in the next 15 years, according to a study by global consulting firm PwC and reported by

automation jobsAs many as 40% of U.S. jobs could be automated, the article says. Germany has the next highest percentage of potentially automated jobs at 35%; the United Kingdom, 30%; and Japan, 20%.

The jobs that lend themselves to automation are in industries related to transportation, manufacturing and retail.

PwC calculated these percentages by breaking down tasks in various industries and applying an algorithm to determine the ability of robots and computers to do those tasks, as well as the characteristics of the workers who do them, the article notes.
