Classic Brands opens California facility

Specialty bedding manufacturer Classic Brands recently opened a new factory, warehouse and office in Long Beach, California, to better serve its West Coast customers.

Designed to serve as the primary landing point for the company’s products sourced from Asia, the 157,000-square-foot facility in California simplifies shipping for retailers and helps control freight costs, the company said in a news release.

In addition to manufacturing the company’s bedding line, the facility includes a production line to manufacture foundations. It employs about 30 people.

The new facility supplements the company’s two primary production and warehouse sites at its headquarters in Jessup, Maryland, that encompass about 170,000 square feet.

“This new facility will improve our service to our West Coast retail customers and streamline the logistics for all of our dealers,” said Michael Zippelli, chief executive officer of Classic Brands. “Our new location will make it easy to order from us from anywhere in the country. We’re excited to be able to make these service and product upgrades. It will keep us at the forefront of designing and producing innovative products to help people get a better night’s sleep.”
