Kevin Damewood
King Koil, a mattress manufacturer and an international licensing group, has added industry veteran Kevin Damewood as executive vice president of business development. He focuses on expanding the customer base in the central and eastern half of the United States, partly in partnership with King Koil’s sole U.S. licensee Blue Bell Mattress, based in East Windsor, Connecticut.
Blue Bell sells King Koil products in the Northeast and Midwest. The rest of the United States is serviced by King Koil’s manufacturing plant in Avondale, Arizona.
Damewood has more than 30 years in bedding industry sales and a decade ago was King Koil’s senior vice president of sales. Most recently, he was senior vice president of sales and marketing for Kingsdown. Prior to that he held top sales posts with the former Simmons Bedding Co. (now Serta Simmons Bedding LLC), and the former Sealy Inc. (now Tempur Sealy International Inc.), as well as with other popular U.S. mattress brands.
“Kevin’s understanding and relationships in the retail community will be a very important part of our ongoing strategy,” said David Binke, King Koil chief executive officer. “He consistently develops winning strategies, and we see him as a strategic advantage to us as we continue to develop our direct manufacturing model.”
King Koil has more than 30 international licensees and maintains U.S. headquarters in Willowbrook, Illinois. In 2015, the privately held company was acquired by one of its licensees, Kaiserkorp Corp., based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
