San Francisco-based retailer McRoskey Mattress Co. has named Vanessa Contreras president and Jill Bibo vice president of sales and marketing. Each was an employee at McRoskey when it was a factory-direct, luxury bed maker. Currently, the company comprises three retail stores in the San Francisco Bay Area and an e-commerce website.
Contreras reports to Robin Azevedo, granddaughter of McRoskey brand co-founder Edward McRoskey. Azevedo recently sold her manufacturing business to Pleasant Mattress Inc. but retained exclusive distribution rights for the brand in brick-and-mortar stores in San Francisco and the right to expand into other locations throughout Northern California. She currently serves as chief executive officer of this new retail-only entity and retains an over-arching brand ambassadorship for all McRoskey-branded products.
Contreras joined the former factory-direct in 2007 and most recently held the title vice president of human resources and manufacturing.
Bibo has been with the brand since 2010, and prior to the company’s sale was vice president of retail sales.
Azevedo said she is stepping away from day-to-day operations of her new retail-only company and has full confidence in her management team: “Vanessa is overseeing all the details of the transition from being a manufacturer and retailer to a full-on retailer. … (She) is laser-focused and understands the heritage of the brand and its importance in the community. There’s no better person to lead the company through this transition. Jill has compiled an outstanding track record of building and training our sales teams, and this new post will allow us to take advantage of her leadership and analytical skills in other aspects of our business. But her unwavering dedication to customer service will remain the focal point of everything she does.”
