CertiPUR-US has honored Bobby Bush with its Outstanding Leadership award and welcomed Cyndi Hunting to its board of directors. CertiPUR-US is a foam certification program administered by the nonprofit Alliance for Flexible Polyurethane Foam, headquartered in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

Bush, who serves as senior vice president of industry supplier Hickory Springs, headquartered in Hickory, North Carolina, played a key role in the development of the CertiPUR-US program, which is now in its 10th year, a news release said. He has continued to foster the program’s success and was integral to the creation of the program’s first advisory board — a panel of academics, chemists, environmentalists, mattress and upholstered furniture makers, and trade association leaders.

The award also honored Bush’s contributions as an innovator in the field of bio-based and combustion-modified foams. And it recognized his involvement in a number of related industry groups, and his advocacy in the fields of environmental and regulatory activity. In addition to the CertiPUR-US board, Bush has given his time to the International Sleep Products Association and its Sleep Products Safety Council, and the Upholstered Furniture Council. He also is a past president of the AFPF.

“Back when the certification of flexible polyurethane foam was just a concept, Bobby was one of the very first in the industry to step up and support the program,” said Mike Crowell, executive director of the CertiPUR-US program. “He was one of the architects of our original business plan, contributing an industry perspective that paved the way for success. He foresaw the extraordinary benefits this program would offer by raising the bar for foam and giving consumers comfort and confidence in the products they bring into their home.”

New CertiPUR-US board member Cyndi Hunting is marketing director for Zinus USA, based in Tracy, California, and is a longtime believer in the value of the CertiPUR-US program, according to the release.

Zinus USA is a part of Zinus Inc., a global supplier of memory foam and innerspring mattresses, foundations, pillows, toppers, metal bed frames and upholstered furniture. Founded in 1979 and privately held, Zinus manufactures its products in China and has world headquarters in Seongnam, South Korea.

Hunting started with Zinus USA in 2004 as a product manager and was a founding member of the Zinus USA team. Prior to that, she worked in the corporate buying office at Macy’s and in financial planning with former retailer Bon-Ton and with Seiko USA.
