Waterford, New York-based Soft-Tex International has realigned the responsibilities of key members of its management team. It also has reordered its business into three functional areas – innovation, sales and marketing, and finance/administrative.
Mark Smiderle now leads the company as principal and continues on the Soft-Tex board of directors. Smiderle is the inventor of the company’s proprietary Reactex technology and joined Soft-Tex as a member of the board of directors and as a consultant in charge of global innovation in early 2019. Reactex is a unique, patent-pending, pressure-activated cooling technology that Soft-Tex uses in a range of sleep products.
Tom Gibbs, who served as interim chief executive officer following the February departure of Jeff Chilton, returns to his role as chief financial officer.
Chris Marsh has taken on increased responsibility as chief sales and marketing officer. Previously, he was chief marketing officer.
Scott Thayer was promoted from divisional vice president to the newly created post chief innovation officer. He is responsible for overseeing all innovation efforts, forecasting, operations, planning, production and sourcing.
Taylor Jones who previously served as vice president of marketing plays a broadened role as vice president of marketing and e-commerce, overseeing product commercialization and Soft-Tex’s e-commerce business.
John Timmerman, vice president of furniture and mattress, has added oversight of international sales to his responsibilities.
