Agro Earns Sustainability Award

Spring supplier Agro International GmbH & Co. KG was named a winner of the German Award for Sustainability Projects 2021. The new award is administered by the German Institute for Service Quality. Its mission is to recognize and honor companies’ commitment to sustainability. Winners are selected by a jury comprised of business, science and media members.

Agro’s new C2C (cradle to cradle) innerspring unit, A.Next Uni – Pocket PES, was awarded in the process/recycling category.

C2C pocket springs are made from two recyclable and reusable base ingredients — steel and polyester. The coil unit materials use a polyester adhesive and polyester fabric, both of which can be reprocessed at the end of product life and made into new polyester for another pocket spring unit — again and again — as can the steel springs.

“As a family business, Agro stands for thinking in generations,” said Agro Managing Director Dominik Meyer. “Our commitment includes a variety of measures on the topic of sustainability. We are very pleased that one of our projects has now been awarded. All Agro innersprings are already recyclable today. But that is not enough for us. We want the circular product to be the standard in the Agro portfolio in the future. The awarded project is an important step — currently we are working on more to come.”
