What began as a licensing relationship in 1993 between King Koil and United Arab Emirates licensee, Dubai Furniture Manufacturing Company, has grown into a successful collaboration, which the companies recently celebrated at a 30-year anniversary event in Dubai.
King Koil executives from around the world, including Chairman Jin Hoe Yeoh and CEO David Binke, attended the event. During the formal program, Sundar Rajan, managing director of DFMC, shared the story of the company’s beginning and the success it has achieved under the King Koil banner, according to a news release.
“DFMC has shown over 30 years of unbelievable stewardship of the King Koil brand,” Binke said. “Middle Eastern consumers appreciate the luxury and quality of our product offerings, all of which are fostered by the great work of Sundar and his team. We wish them another 30 years of continued growth and prosperity.”
DFMC was the first licensee in the Middle East to have a King Koil branded showroom to market products to dealers in the region. The company eventually opened 15 King Koil showrooms and today, it has expanded further at retail.
“As we reflect on our 30-year journey, we are reminded of the obstacles we have overcome, challenges we have faced and the achievements we have celebrated,” Rajan said. “Today we celebrate our talented and dedicated employees for their contribution to the progress and success of the company, dealers and hospitality customers who have trusted us, owners who have supported us, King Koil who has stood by us, and the market in which we operate — the Middle East market — which has embraced us and given us a platform to grow.”
DFMC operates three factories in the UAE, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The company has also developed a contract business providing mattresses to major hotel brands in the Middle East such as Hilton, Marriot, Taj, Emirates Towers and Emirates Palace.
“I was honored to be a part of the DFMC celebration,” King Koil Chairman Jin Hoe Yeoh said. “This company has done a tremendous job building King Koil in the Middle East and serves as an example of the strength of our brand. We wish DFMC nothing but success in the future.”
