Hi, it’s Beth English, editorial director of BedTimes magazine. I’m here with Waynette Goodson, our managing editor, and we’re here to tell you all about the May issue. And I don’t know about you, but I am excited about Interzum Waynette, and I will be flying out on Sunday, and we cannot wait. And this issue gives you some companies to check out on the show floor and some things to do when you’re not on the show floor.

So I think it’s chock full of good information. Also, in this issue, we have a profile of Maes Mattress Ticking. This is a company that has been around since 1926, and they have partnered with Creative, who is helping to sell their Belgian damask fabric. And also, I want to discuss a nice article by Phil Perry about management and leadership.

Beth English
And it gives you like ten criteria to see how you’re doing. So see how you measure up. And finally, our nightcap this month is with Sarah Bergman from Purecare. And it was a delight. Always check those out. And now Waynette over to you.

Waynette Goodson
Okay, Beth. Well, I’m going to start off. I love the cover. Oh, my goodness. The most gorgeous ancient cathedral, one of so many in Cologne. So I can’t wait to go see for myself and check out the mattress trends across the pond, as they say. But speaking domestically, okay, look at this, everybody—the Florida Refresher for those of you who missed our ISPA conference.

We do a review of just, you know what you missed, all the speakers, all the networking. And, of course, everybody looks so beautiful on our party pages. Lots of great pictures for you to check out now besides that. Okay, you know how I feel about designers and the design industry. And we have Beds by Design. So here we go.

Waynette Goodson
This is the next edition. This is Thom Filicia. Why is he important? Thom Filicia is one of the foremost most influential designers in the world, frankly. He’s based in New York. He’s about to celebrate 25 years with his design firm in New York. If his name sounds familiar, he started off on TV in the nineties as one of the stars of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

But now he is really starting to focus on getting his own mattress line, and he talks about how it’s time for mattress manufacturers to start working with the design community and bring the two together. And just what are the benefits of that? And, of course, he also talks about trends. He looks into his crystal ball for 2024 and talks about colors and why his clients are asking for them.

Waynette Goodson
So that’s a big one. Big surprise for me. He brought his dog to the interview. A little Chihuahua named Lago and Lago was a ball of energy, and so is Thom Filicia. So you will have to watch out for that video coming up in the next couple of weeks or so. So that’s what I’ve got. Beth, back to you to take this out.

Beth English
Well, that’s all we have for now. But until next month. See you later.

Waynette Goodson
Yeah, see you later. Have a great night’s sleep.
