Standard Fiber, a home textiles supplier, has added a second North American factory and bolstered resources across its global product development teams, according to a news release.

The company-operated, 60,000-square-foot facility in Tijuana, Mexico, focuses on near-shore mattress textile cut-and-sew, providing faster response time at competitive pricing, company officials said.

Combined with Standard Fiber’s manufacturing network and expanded capacity in Asia, this new factory is a strategic investment in a blended supply solution. It also reinforces the company’s foothold as a one-stop destination for mattress partners, according to a news release.

“At Standard Fiber, we believe that progressive brands seek to utilize blended supply models to deliver the best value to their consumers and shareholders,” said Brandon Wells, executive vice president, wholesale, of the Burlingame, California-based company. “Our value proposition does not boil down to price alone, because our approach weaves innovation, sustainability, local design and domestic distribution to provide our customers the full value of what a textile supplier partnership should be.”

With product development teams in Europe, Asia and the United States, the company’s latest investments in this area include hiring top talent for key sales and innovation roles and increasing its focus on sustainability in materials and operations.

Standard Fiber recently hired 30-year textiles industry veteran Mike Muller as vice president of sales to enhance service levels to its existing and prospective mattress brand and manufacturing customers. The company also named Cat Lee as vice president of product development and innovation with a focus on forward-thinking performance technologies.

“We are leveraging our unique exposure to the apparel and bedding accessories businesses to benefit the mattress industry,” Wells said. “Our reputation for exciting and meaningful innovation in utility bedding translates well to the mattress business, and when you take that with experience and major investments, we offer extraordinary value.”
