North Brunswick, New Jersey-based mattress manufacturer and licensing group Bedding Industries of America has named Paul Kenis its new vice president of business development for the Midwest region.

In this new role, Kenis will identify and capitalize on growth opportunities, expand BIA’s market presence and work with sales representatives and retailers in the Midwest region, including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, Western Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. He will report directly to Philip Carlitz, BIA chief operating officer.

Kenis most recently served as business development lead for The Bedding Group, a fourth-generation, family-owned mattress manufacturer. Prior to this, he worked as a field consultant for Henry Shein, a worldwide distributor of medical and dental supplies. Before that, he served as operations manager for his family business, Morris Furniture, founded in Albert Lea, Minnesota, in 1933. His in-depth knowledge of the furniture and mattress industry, as well as his proven track record in business development and strategic planning, make him a valuable addition to the BIA leadership team, according to a news release.

“It’s undeniable that BIA has such a storied legacy and is recognized as a leader in the bedding industry,” Kenis said. “I’m astounded by the breadth of its portfolio of brands and its aggressive growth over the past couple of years. Add in that the leadership team is second to none. It’s an exciting time to join the BIA team, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the company’s future successes.”

Carlitz noted: “We’re thrilled to welcome Paul Kenis to the BIA team as our new vice president of development for the Midwest region. Paul’s extensive experience and regional knowledge make him the ideal candidate to lead our efforts. We are confident that his leadership will drive significant growth and success for our efforts in the Midwest.”
