Nightcap Q&A With Jacob Swims

Jacob Swims is regional vice president of sales for MD Mattress, a mattress producer headquartered in Ennis, Texas. Prior to joining MD Mattress, he worked as regional vice president for Southerland Inc. In his free time, he enjoys hiking with his family, soccer with his kids (Annalise, age 13; Gavin, age 10) and golf when he can.

BedTimes: Tell us about your bedtime routine.

Jacob Swims: I read with the kids, have a glass of wine with my wife, Leslie, and fall asleep three minutes after my head hits the pillow.

BT: What do you avoid before bed?

JS: No caffeine after 2 p.m.

BT: How many hours do you typically sleep?   

JS: Eight hours 

BT: Pets in the bed – yay or nay? 

JS: Yes. Roxy is a 70-pound black lab that tends to share my pillow by the morning somehow. Bella’s the smart dog that sleeps on the floor.

BT: Barefoot or socks?   

JS: Barefoot

BT: What’s on your nightstand?  

JS: My Kindle

BT: Are you a napper?  

JS: No time for naps with kids.

BT: What are your best sleep tips?   

JS: No tequila before bed. 

BT: What are your secrets for getting a good night’s sleep while traveling?  

JS: I always pack a fan to have noise in the hotel room.
