Nightcap Q&A With Georgia Dimitrakis

Georgia Dimitrakis is the regional franchise manager at Grupo Diveco, one of the largest vertically integrated manufacturers in the Americas. It also holds the licenses for U.S.-based companies Therapedic, Kingsdown, Tempur-Pedic and Serta. Although the Mixcos, Guatemala- based company was founded by her grandfather, Konstantino Dimitrakis in 1971, Georgia originally set out to study medicine, leaving her native Guatemala to attend Baylor University in Waco, Texas. After earning a master’s degree in human resources, she joined the family business — and bedding industry — five years ago. In her free time, she enjoys golfing, yoga and traveling.

BedTimes: Tell us about your bedtime routine. What do you do before bed?

Georgia Dimitrakis: My skin care routine, followed by some TV time. Then I do meditation for 10 to 15 minutes.

BT: What do you avoid before bed?

GD: Caffeine and answering work emails.

BT: How many hours of sleep do you typically get?

GD: Between seven and eight hours.

BT: Pets in the bed – yay or nay?

GD:  Yay! I share my bed with my dog, Merli. He is a 6-year-old Pomeranian.

BT: Barefoot or socks?

GD: Barefoot.

BT: What’s on your nightstand?

GD: Books, water bottle, lamp, a sound machine and a TV remote.

BT: Are you a napper?

GD: Nope!

BT: What are your best sleep tips?

GD: Meditate before sleep, if you can. Try a weighted blanket if you have anxiety — it is great! Drink enough water during the day and make sure to have water next to you. Try to sleep for at least seven hours.

BT: What are your secrets for getting a good night’s sleep while traveling?

GD: Again, try to sleep at least seven hours. Ask for more pillows, if needed. Check that the room temperature is adequate. And if you travel for work, try not to work in bed.

BT: Is there anything else you would like to add?

GD:  Buying a great mattress will definitely change your life.
