Kingsdown Creates Innovative Sleep Lab Experience at Winter Las Vegas Market

MEBANE, N.C. – Luxury bedding manufacturer, Kingsdown, Inc., is set to pull back the curtain on its creative process at the Winter Market in Las Vegas with an innovative SleepLAB experience, offering buyers a behind-the-scenes look at how it combines style and substance to drive the brand.

Already well known for the dynamic front window displays at Market designed to stop shoppers in their tracks with head-turning, fashion forward styles each season, the new 3,000-square-foot SleepLAB dedicates the center of the Kingsdown showroom to illustrating how the brand choreographs innovative design and materials with process, for its customers.

According to Kingsdown Chairman Mike James SleepLAB is a hands-on, interactive journey akin to an engaging science museum designed to be explored prior to shopping the newest Kingsdown collections at Market. The goal is to give buyers a better understanding of the key differentiators that set the company apart in the marketplace and demonstrate how its team designs and builds, from conception of a new idea all the way through to display on a retailer’s floor and the tools it develops to help drive sell-through.

“Kingsdown is the only company that tests every bed we manufacture,” James said. “Retailers who have had the opportunity to tour our plants over the years are familiar with our patented Inline Comfort and Support Analysis (ICSA) testing system, which measures every mattress to ensure the intended support level is delivered to the retailer’s floor or a customer’s home. Now, those who have never seen a working ICSA machine will have the chance to see it demonstrated in the showroom because testing is such an invaluable element of what we do.”

A brand long driven by testing and sleep science, Kingsdown is the leader in consumer diagnostics, and the BedMATCH application is another important element of the SleepLAB experience. Using 18 statistical measurements, more than 1,000 scientific calculations and data generated from 20 million consumer profiles (and counting), Kingsdown’s brand agnostic technology provides personalized recommendations for product on retail floors. In addition to experiencing BedMATCH, retailers will find an upgraded content management system and newly updated software that makes it easier to add promotional elements into their store experience.

Material displays also play a critical role in the interactive exhibit, from inspiration boards and ingredients to touch and feel like Joma wool and various temperature-regulating specialty gels and foam, to Kingsdown’s new Wave Coil ™ system being introduced in key collections this Market. Various embroidery samples hint at private labels powered by Kingsdown and show off the couture nature of the brand. There’s even a station where retailers can try their own hands at tufting.

“All of the major bedding brands do tufting of some kind, but few attendees have ever seen how it actually works,” said Gary Towning, Kingsdown vice president of marketing. “Now, they can discover the process and really understand what goes into stand-out collections like Vintage, Passions, Prime, Insignia and K2 and the handmade nature of our collections.”
