The International Sleep Products Association’s Bedding Market Quarterly reports for the third and fourth quarters of 2024 are out, showing bedding industry sales down significantly.
In the third quarter of 2024, total market wholesale dollars and units were down 12.7% and 7.9%, respectively, compared with the third quarter of 2023. Bedding industry sales continued to trend down in the fourth quarter, with total market wholesale dollars and units down 8.1% and 8.3%, respectively, compared with the previous year.
Typically, these reports are posted earlier. The delay in reporting was caused by setbacks in survey completion, which in turn hindered the data aggregation process. ISPA is committed to maintaining a timely release schedule throughout 2025.
The Bedding Market Quarterly reports U.S. sales activity (including Puerto Rico) based on data provided by participating U.S. mattress producers and estimates for non-participating mattress producers based on SEC filings, where available. The companies accounted for approximately 54% of the mattress units shipped and 75% of the wholesale market revenue for mattresses sold. The experience of these participants as a group does not necessarily reflect those of the entire mattress manufacturing industry.
The numbers reflect a troubling trend: bedding industry sales down once again. Read more industry news at BedTimesMagazine.com.
