The winter show featured tech enhancements, split-head queen sizes and solid visual merchandising.
There are no sure things in Vegas — and that sentiment was especially true at the opening of the winter market. An element of uncertainty seemed to be everywhere: Bedding manufacturers and retailers were weary after enduring years of the post-pandemic industry slowdown. Anxious consumers worried about inflation were still nervous about loosening their purse strings. A new administration had just moved back into the White House and was making sweeping changes at a dizzying pace — including proposed tariffs that left many in the industry unsure of what to expect next.
This was the charged atmosphere that exhibitors stepped into when arriving at the World Market Center. Their customers also seemed to respond to this energy and came out of the gate early. Many producers reported they were booking appointments and receiving visitors before they’d even finished setting up their showrooms.
Mike Juoni, senior vice president of commercial operations for Corsicana Mattress Co., said some of the bigger corporate accounts were at market as early as Thursday and Friday, which is an advantage for those customers. “They get 100% of our attention,” he said.
Other exhibitors noticed a sharp drop-off as the days went on. “The traffic on Sunday and Monday was fantastic but it fell off a cliff (Tuesday),” said Michael Carter, executive vice president of Kuka Home USA.
Overall, most seemed pleased with market traffic and sales. “This has been an excellent market,” said Richard Diamonstein, managing director of Paramount Sleep Co. “This market has far exceeded our expectations in terms of traffic and in terms of interest in the products. This has been far beyond our expectations.”
What’s hot
Amid the buzzy showrooms, the winter market saw the dawn of several intriguing trends and the continuation of others. A few that BedTimes editors noticed follow.
Expanding the Split: Queen Sizes Join the Trend
Split-head mattresses have moved beyond king sizes into more commonplace queen sizes.
Advanced Sleep Technology: Integrating Haptic Feedback and More
Tech enhancements to mattresses and bases such as haptic technology, sonic massage, immersive sound, Bluetooth connectivity and apps generating detailed sleep data continue to grow.
Elevated Sleep: The Focus on Premium Bedding
The focus on consumers who desire luxury continues, with some providing entry-level luxury at attractive price points.
Visual Storytelling: Enhancing Bedding with Design Elements
Mattress producers continue to integrate visual merchandising into their product lines, building graphic elements into their fabrics and labels to help RSAs sell better. Along the same lines, dark ticking ruled many showrooms. Touches of Lurex added a little sparkle and in many cases designated step-ups.
Sleep for Well-being: Addressing Mobility and Health Needs
Several adjustable base makers incorporated lift, tilt and other functionality into bases to provide affordable options to those with mobility or health issues.
Complete Sleep Systems: The Power of Accessory Sales
The push toward building accessorized sleep systems to increase incremental sales of pillows, toppers, sheets and mattress protectors continues to be a valuable strategy for building traffic and ongoing relationships with retailers and consumers.
Celebrating Industry Milestones: Anniversaries and Brand Legacy
In addition to all the energy around new products, several producers marked anniversaries. Carpenter celebrated 75 years. Paramount turned 90 and marked the occasion with a party and a special edition mattress. Serta Simmons Bedding commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Beautyrest brand with a Roaring ’20s soiree. And the Serta Counting Sheep mascot marked its 25th birthday with balloons and various versions of the stuffed sheep all around the showroom.

Targeted Relief: Sealy’s New Approach to Eliminating Bed Aches
Sealy Posturepedic may have gotten a new look but it’s what’s underneath the covers that really changes the feel of this durable brand. New PrecisionFit coils, developed by Tempur Sealy International and used exclusively in Sealy Posturepedic mattresses, start with a softer, more conforming support at the top of the coil and moves into a deeper, stronger support at the bottom. “It has the ability to adapt to each individual sleeper, their needs, their body, their shape, their weight,” said Josh Fenner, director of marketing for Sealy. “All in all, what this allows us to do at the end of the day is give all of our beds a huge feel upgrade.” TSI, which is headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, celebrated the relaunch of Posturepedic with a redesigned showroom and lots of stuffed bright red creatures called “Bed Aches.” They represent the stiffness, soreness and pain that many people report as a result of sleeping on a mattress that doesn’t support them well. Sealy Posturepedic helps sleepers “Beat the Bed Aches.”
Refined Luxury: King Koil’s Intimate Collection Gets a Modern Refresh
The handcrafted, best-selling Intimate by King Koil got an updated look and marketing for the Las Vegas show. With high-end components, the hand-tufted and made-to-order Intimate Handcrafted line now comes in three colorways — platinum, black and Pacific (blue) — and offers split-head designs in king size and the newly added queen size. On the adjustable side, the brand’s improved RioEco base features fabric made from recycled bottles, as well as recyclable legs and a process that reduces the amount of glue used in the product.

Timeless Craft: Shifman’s Heritage Collections Blend Tradition and Luxury
Newark, New Jersey-based Shifman Mattress Co. turned to the past for its 1893 and Timeless collections, paying homage to its 131-year history. For the 1893 collection, Andi Jones, Shifman’s director of product development and training, researched slang from the period to name the three models, landing on Afternoonified (a refined and leisurely lifestyle), Champagne Weather (rainy days) and Bodaciousness (bold or audacious). The beds’ sumptuous materials include natural cotton, wool and more than 3,000 individually wrapped coils. The 10-model Shifman Timeless collection pays homage to timeless moments in one’s life with names like Mountain Air, Sunday Morning In and First Kiss ($2,000-$7,999). “The names of the beds evoke emotion,” Jones said. “We don’t make purchasing decisions based on logic.
