Better Sleep Council joins Pinterest to further engage consumers

infographic on why pinterest is good for businessISPA’s consumer education arm, the Better Sleep Council, recently joined Pinterest in an effort to expand its social media outreach. More than any other social networks, consumers are using Pinterest to decide what to buy, which is exactly why the BSC wanted a presence on the popular social media site.

According to Wishpond, 43% of Pinterest users interact with retailers or brands they like on the site, compared with 24% of Facebook users. In fact, 70% of Pinterest users surveyed say they use Pinterest for inspiration on what to buy. Pins that include an item’s price get 36% more likes than pins that don’t.

As the BSC strives to educate consumers about the importance of sleep to health and quality of life and the role a new sleep system plays in the equation, the Pinterest page will have information on calming bedroom ideas, sleep tips, as well as BSC-related mattress buying information.

“Consumers are spending more time on average on Pinterest, and typically it gets more clicks and engagement than Twitter,” said BSC Director of Communications Karin Mahoney. “We want to be at the forefront, communicating the importance of sleep and mattress replacement, so creating a BSC page only seemed natural.”
