2009 was another down year for the mattress industry as unit sales, the dollar value of shipments and the average unit selling price all fell, according to the Bedding Barometer, a monthly report from the International Sleep Products Association. Unit shipments fell 6.6% for 2009 compared to 2008 and the dollar value of those shipments dropped 9%. The wholesale average unit selling price fell 2.6% in 2009 compared to 2008.
