Mattress licensing group Spring Air International has hired industry veteran Armando Murillo as vice president of business development, a newly created position for the Boston-based company. He reports to Spring Air President Rick Robinson.

Murillo is responsible for working with existing retail accounts, as well as new business.

He is a mattress industry veteran who most recently served as vice president and general manager of Mattress World, the 32-store sleep shop chain owned by retailer Art Van. Prior to that, he was vice president of merchandising for the former Mattress Giant chain. Murillo also has worked for a number of other retailers and mattress manufacturers, including Palliser Furniture, Sealy, Serta, Sit ’n Sleep and The Brick.

“Armando’s 18-year career in the bedding and furniture industries adds strong, veteran experience to our leadership team,” Robinson said. “Over those years, he worked in executive-level posts for a number of high-profile companies and brands, and we’re very pleased to welcome him to Spring Air.”
