Atlanta-based mattress major Simmons Bedding Co. recently came to the assistance of the Jubilee Women’s Center in Seattle. The nonprofit organization helps women transition from homelessness to independent living.

Simmons Chief of Specialty Innovation Scott Smalling heard a local news story that two “graduates” of the center were robbed of all their belongings during a move to permanent housing. Smalling promptly took action calling the women’s center to ask how Simmons could help.

The call resulted in the mattress maker partnering with retail chain Sleep Country USA to donate new mattresses to the two women, as well as 31 new beds to replace all of the center’s mattresses.
