Fiber and textile recycler and mattress industry supplier Leigh Fibers, which has headquarters in Wellford, S.C., has hired Darrell Turner as chief operating officer. He replaces 35-year company veteran Keith Taylor who was named to the board of directors and continues with Leigh Fibers in a consulting role.
Turner’s career includes 25 years in the energy, waste and recycled-materials industries. Previously, he was vice president and general manager of Headwaters Inc. Prior to that, Turner was president of Eagle North America Inc. He has also held management posts at Waste Management Inc. and the privately held Clemson Technical Center.
“As we write the next chapter of the Leigh Fibers story, Darrell’s enthusiasm and his experience in developing new products that utilize waste products will be great assets, as will his success in global business development, especially in China and South America,” Taylor said.
Commenting on his new post, Turner said, “Under Keith’s leadership, Leigh Fibers has been an innovator in fiber and textile reprocessing and a pioneer in repurposing materials that would otherwise have been landfilled. I see tremendous opportunities ahead and I think we’re uniquely positioned to capitalize on them.”
