Mattress major Simmons Bedding Co. has announced that it initiated, coordinated and sponsored an Atlanta fire station visit and luncheon for a group of five-year-olds whose families are served by Our House, an Atlanta-area nonprofit that provides early childhood education and support service to families experiencing homelessness. Simmons is a long-time supporter of Our House and holds a seat on the nonprofit’s board of directors.
Firefighters of Atlanta Fire Station 19 welcomed the children and took them on a tour of the facility. In April, Simmons completed Firehouse Recharge Atlanta, an initiative to supply the Atlanta Fire Rescue Dept. with 275 new beds.
“Simmons takes pride in our Atlanta roots and we have an ongoing commitment to help better the lives of those in our local community,” said Simmons President Tony Smith. “We have proudly supported the mission of Our House for years and we are honored to be able to work with AFRD to give these children a special experience they will never forget.”
