The 2013 Mattress Industry Report of Sales and Trends is available electronically to members of the International Sleep Products Association at the association’s website. In 2013, the mattress industry continued its upward trend in both unit shipments and wholesale dollar value. U.S. mattress producers shipped nearly 35.9 million units and wholesale revenues grew to nearly $7 billion, reflecting increases from 2012 levels of 1.2% and 2.4%, respectively. Average unit prices for mattresses and foundations increased by 1.2%.
The 2013 report is packed with other useful industry information on contract sales, imports and exports of mattresses, mattress size data and retail price point trends. In addition, this year’s report includes for the first time sales data for motion foundations.
As in the past, the report also contains information on mattress sales activity in 60 other countries compiled by CSIL Milano and a market analysis by Jerry Epperson of Mann, Armistead & Epperson Ltd.
