Hohenstein Institute America, an international textile testing and research company with U.S. headquarters in Burlington, N.C., has named Ben Mead as a customer relations and technical specialist.

Mead has customer service responsibilities for the western United States and represents Hohenstein in many of its textile-industry collaborations. He also serves as the company’s liaison with governmental agencies and trade associations.

His background includes extensive experience in textile chemistry and textile sustainability. Previously, Mead was a textile sustainability specialist at Bleam LLC, a product chemistry manager for Nike and a business integration manager at Kreager Brothers Excavating. He also is active in a number of textile industry trade groups.

“Demand for Hohenstein services has grown substantially in the few years since opening our U.S. offices,” said Dr. Sam Moore, Hohenstein America managing director. “Ben is a textile expert who is also a project management specialist, and that is a very compelling combination of skills for our business. With Ben focused on the western half of the country, we can effectively support the many textile and apparel companies west of the Mississippi who rely on our testing and certification expertise.”

Commenting on his new position, Mead said, “The textile industry is embracing testing and certification as critical tools for developing reliable quality, sustainability and compliance strategies across the global supply chain. Hohenstein services are collaborative, comprehensive and cost-effective, and I look forward to helping my new clients leverage them effectively for their businesses.”

Mead is based in Albion, Indiana.
