Sit ‘n Sleep and Tempur-Pedic assist veterans

Southern California mattress retailer Sit ‘n Sleep, headquartered in Gardena, California, together with Lexington, Kentucky-based Tempur-Pedic North America, donated hundreds of new mattresses to veterans in the week leading up to Veterans Day. Mattress sets with bed frames were delivered to four Southern California PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) locations, earmarked for needy veterans transitioning from homelessness.

“We cannot think of more deserving recipients for this donation than our returning veterans. The donation is our small way of saying thank you from everyone at Sit ‘n Sleep for their service and sacrifice they made and continue to make for us,” said Larry Miller, Sit ‘n Sleep chief executive officer. “These brave men and women risk their lives to defend our country and it’s a disgrace that so many of them return home without safe, comfortable housing. We hope that the donated mattresses provide the healthy good night’s sleep that our local heroes deserve.”

According to PATH, many veterans struggle to find employment after returning to civilian life, and 12% of Southern California veterans who served post-9/11 live in poverty.
