Rion Morgernstern
Pleasant Mattress Inc., producer of Cannon Sleep Products, continues a family tradition by selecting Rion Morgenstern to be president and chief executive officer of the company.
Rion succeeds his father, Herb Morgenstern, as CEO, becoming the third generation of family leadership for the Fresno, California-based mattress manufacturer. Herb Morgenstern has assumed the role of chairman of the board.
“I am proud to hand the reins over to Rion as I step back from the day-to-day operations of the company,” Herb Morgenstern said. “His professional and personal accomplishments outside of the mattress industry have prepared him well to lead the family business.”
Rion joined Pleasant Mattress as vice president in 2011 after a successful 20-year sales and marketing career in the technology sector. He started his professional career as a computer programmer, which eventually led to a chief technology officer role with AuraGen Technologies. After taking a two-year sabbatical to see the world, he returned to California as director of sales for software startup MindTouch. He later left MindTouch to accept a role as director of interactive agency SiteLab.
“I was raised in the mattress business, spending weekends and summer breaks making and loading mattresses,” Rion Morgenstern said. “Now I am very excited to put my expertise to work for the family business to lead us into the third generation and sixth decade of manufacturing high quality, high value mattress sets.”
