Richard Wolf dies

Richard E. Wolf died July 26, peacefully, in his sleep, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was 95. Wolf was the father of current Wolf Corp. President Tony Wolf and was the company’s chairman emeritus, as well as its past president. He was born in Fort Wayne and spent his career in the family-owned business, a mattress manufacturer and fiber processor founded in 1873 by his grandfather Paul Wolf.

During his bedding industry career, Wolf was an active member of the International Sleep Products Association, then the National Association of Bedding Manufacturers, and served on the organization’s board. He also was past president of the National Cotton Batting Institute.

Wolf was a graduate of Indiana University and a World War II veteran, 1940-46, who rose to captain in U.S. Air Force-predecessor, the Army Air Corps.

According to the obituary published by his family, Richard Wolf led a full life, was a great businessman, mentor, tennis player and a musician—who never had a bad word to say about anyone. He also was a lifelong member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, the Rotary Club of downtown Fort Wayne and Junto of Fort Wayne.
