Mattress licensing group King Koil Licensing Co., headquartered in Willowbrook, Illinois, has promoted Owen Shoemaker to new King Koil president.
Shoemaker had been serving as executive vice president and chief operating officer since just after the company was acquired by the Malaysia-based Kaiserkorp Corp. in February 2015. He retains the title of chief operating officer and reports to company chairman Jin Hoe Yeoh.
“The 2016 year presents us with many challenges and opportunities,” Yeoh said. “We need to work strategically and aggressively to achieve the results we want, and Owen has the knowledge and experience to lead us in that process. I’m very pleased to announce Owen’s appointment, and we all look forward to his leadership skills and valuable guidance in the new year.”
Shoemaker began working for King Koil in 2009 as vice president of product development. He is a mattress industry veteran with retail management, operations, sales, product development and branding experience.
Commenting on his new role, Shoemaker said, “My years with King Koil have been very rewarding. I anticipate bringing new talent to the company and extending its reach so that we can successfully achieve our strategic objectives. Millions sleep on King Koil beds today, and we can be found in nearly 100 countries. As a result, we have an in-depth understanding of ‘comfort by culture,’ which ultimately helps us build a better range of sleep systems for American and international consumers.”
