Simmons Bedding, part of Atlanta-based Serta Simmons Bedding Co. LLC, has restructured its marketing department under the recently promoted Jim Gallman.
Gallman now is executive vice president of marketing, replacing Jeff Willard, who left the company for a new post with Zac Brown’s Southern Ground.
In addition to Gallman, Simmons promoted two other marketing team members and hired three.
The expanded department was reorganized into four segments—marketing communications, which oversees all marketing, advertising and public relations; the brand team, which focuses on product positioning; channel marketing, focused on retailer relationships and custom programs; and global marketing/licensees, with a focus on global marketing communications.
This marketing structure was implemented across SSB, with both Serta and Simmons leading their own teams, according to a news release.
Previously, Gallman was Simmons senior vice president of brand management, reporting to Willard. He joined Simmons in 2014 and is a 20-year marketing veteran leading all aspects of Simmons’ marketing and brand functions.
“Jim has been instrumental in building Simmons’ world-class marketing team, unifying processes between marketing and new product development, and driving Beautyrest’s successful hybrid and luxury positioning in the market,” said Michael Traub, SSB chief executive officer. “Jim’s depth of experience, proven track record and leadership capabilities made him a natural choice, and I am proud that we are able to promote from within.”
Commenting on his new role, Gallman said: “I’m honored to lead our marketing team in this new position, as we continue to connect with our consumers through creative campaigns and impactful experiences with the brand. I look forward to executing the unified, strategic plan we have in place to support Simmons’ continued growth.”
Simmons also promoted Andrew Long from brand director of luxury lines to vice president of channel marketing. He joined the company in 2013. In addition, Laura Brewick transitioned from the Simmons sales team to the brand team and was named to the new position of senior director of core and value lines.
In February, Andy Monfalcone joined Simmons as senior director of premium and luxury lines. He previously was with Newell Rubbermaid. Cameron Purcell, formerly with Dodge Communications, became part of the team in May as manager of marketing communications. Simmons also hired Cristina Patel as assistant manager of digital marketing. She most recently was with The Aspen Brands Co.
