WithIt Announces October High Point Market Events

WithIt High Point events offer education, networking and mentoring for members and guests

HIGH POINT, N.C. –  From networking to educational opportunities, WithIt has created a lineup of fall High Point Market events designed to further its vision of encouraging and supporting the professional development of women in the home furnishings industry. On Friday, October 21, WithIt will hold a President’s Welcome Reception for both members and guests. The event kicks off the celebration of WithIt’s 20th Anniversary and will honor past presidents of the organization. Hosted by Universal Furniture, it will take place at their showroom at 101 S. Hamilton Street in High Point from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

The annual WithIt Education Breakfast, presented this year by Myriad Software, features designer Joana Aranha, founder of Bunakara, and takes place Sunday, October 2 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the International Ballroom on the 11th Floor of the IHFC’s Green Wing. The cost for the event is $25, and a portion of the ticket proceeds will support Circle 1500, the women’s health initiative at City of Hope.

In this inspiring presentation moderated by Caroline Hipple, president of Norwalk Furniture, renowned international designer Joana Aranha will describe her remarkable entrepreneurial quest to bring beautiful design to the world.

WithIt will welcome a representative from City of Hope to introduce Circle 1500, its women’s health initiative that funds women’s cancer research projects such as a pancreatic nutritional program which studies weight loss on the survivorship of breast cancer patients, next generation drug discover for treating Herceptin-resistant breast cancer and a study of the molecular mechanisms of exercise on breast cancer patients.

“Circle 1500 is a giving circle, based at City of Hope, focused on providing members the opportunity to have a direct impact on funding women’s cancer research,” said Janet Morgan, senior director of philanthropy at City of Hope. “We are very excited to have the opportunity to participate alongside WithIt at the market breakfast, and sincerely appreciate the contribution to assist us in our efforts towards funding this important women’s health initiative.”

Taking place Wednesday, October 26, is WithIt’s annual Student Mentoring Day.  The event takes place from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the seminar room at Market Suites and includes a presentation by celebrity designer Corey Damen Jenkins, roundtable discussions, showroom tours, and concludes with a networking lunch. The event costs $10 per student and is free to WithIt student members.

The winner of HGTV’s Showhouse Showdown, Jenkins is a renowned interior designer launching his first couture furniture collection: Corey Damen Jenkins exclusively for Leathercraft.
