Waregem, April 5, 2017 – BekaertDeslee announces today that ‘Respiro’, a brand new bed concept and textile collection, was named winner of the ‘Intelligent Material & Design Award’ in the 9th Interzum Awards by Koelnmesse and Red Dot. The Interzum Awards are a selection of the best furniture and furniture component designs by an expert international jury.

Respiro is the name of the bed concept that caught the eye of the Interzum jury. Together with Kreamat and Stefan Schöning, BekaertDeslee created a complete bed concept where airflow and breathability are key. Respiro literally translates from Italian to “I breathe”. If you like a fresh and stylish bed, Respiro is just your cup of tea. From 16 to 19 May 2017, the Respiro bed will be displayed in its full glory at the Interzum Cologne fair, Germany (booth 11.1.C020-D029).

The Respiro bed is made out of one fabric. The wonderful BekaertDeslee textile greatly determines the stylish look & feel of Respiro. A fully adjustable bed base integrated into the mattress gives the bed a light and breathing touch. The mechanical part of the bed is made completely invisible.
BekaertDeslee combines three top technologies that offer the perfect conditions for a good night’s sleep. The special 3D-structure permanently ventilates the mattress and reduces pressure. Respiro regulates humidity and temperature. A special biotechnology keeps Respiro clean in a 100% natural way. The Respiro textile cover can easily be removed and is perfectly washable.
Winning this prestigious award at Interzum proves that Respiro has outstanding design qualities. A jury of five respected and independent international experts in design and architecture assessed different products and gave the prize to Respiro.
