Nimbus Emporium develops Smartdown synthetic fiber fill

Nimbus Emporium, a maker of down-filled duvets and pillows, has added a range of duvets and pillows with fibers created from recycled polyethylene terephthalate plastic bottles.

Nimbus is part of the Trendsetter Home Furnishings group based in Trafford Park, England.

New Smartdown is a synthetic fiber fill that offers the comfort of down and is washable, the company said.

“We’re extremely excited to be bringing something completely new to the market,” said Helen Johnson, marketing manager. “(With these) silky soft fibers … we’ve created a new generation of luxury bedding. It’s the way we spin the fibers in our pioneering fiber-blowing technique which creates comforting, downlike clusters that mimic the behavior of down.”
