Global Mattress, a mattress manufacturer and retailer headquartered in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, is expanding to the continental United States with the opening of six stores in Florida.
The first store opened in July in Lake Mary. Three others are expected to open this year in Kissimmee, Lake Nona and Orlando. Two more are in the planning stages for 2019.
Founded in 1987, Global Mattress is a vertically integrated, direct-to-consumer brand. The company designs and manufactures its mattresses at a company-owned facility in Puerto Rico and sells the beds in its 14 stores throughout the island, in Florida and online. Global Mattress also takes care of the product delivery and set-up.
The new Lake Mary store is pioneering a hybrid shopping experience that blends the convenience of e-shopping with the benefits of in-store shopping, the company said in a news release. Upon arrival, customers are greeted and then allowed to rest-test mattresses on their own. They can place an order on a tablet provided at the store without a retail sales associate’s help, or they can choose to have assistance.
“We are a different kind of mattress company,” said Javier Tejeda, general operation director. “Ours truly is a stress-free experience in which the customer has full control of how he or she shops. We provide a calm, beautiful and modern environment in our stores for customers to make the most informed decision devoid of external pressures, or they can choose to shop from home. This formula ensures the best quality for our products, while also enabling affordability.”
The company’s mattresses feature pocket-coil springs, foam and gel memory foam, and retail from $399 to $1,229 in queen size.
