Global Systems Group, the machinery division of Carthage, Missouri-based Leggett & Platt Inc., has announced the retirement of veteran employee Darryl Oyler. Most recently, he served as vice president of sales and service for the West Coast. Nathan Terry, a recently hired sales and service representative, has assumed Oyler’s responsibilities covering the Western United States and Western Canada.

Oyler spent 25 years with GSG and more than a half century in the bedding machinery industry. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, he began as a draftsman at James Cash Machine Co. He quickly learned the nuances of the equipment and became involved in product testing.

According to a news release, Oyler put his mechanical aptitude to use in a broad career that included machinery design, servicing and new equipment installations for Western Bedding Supply Co. Inc. and then for Gribetz International. His machinery knowledge and industry background led him into a sales and service role with GSG, which acquired both WBSC and Gribetz.

“Darryl’s dedicated service to his customers and the mattress industry as a whole has been a great asset for GSG,” said Mike Miller, GSG president. “His friendly personality and example of true integrity have made him a trusted friend among his customers and co-workers alike. He’ll be missed, and we wish him the best for the future.”

Terry, who joined GSG in late 2018, assumes Oyler’s responsibilities at the end of February, following a period of working and traveling with Oyler in the field. Terry brings extensive experience in the sales and service of industrial products to his new post. Most recently, he was an account manager with IPS Corp., and, prior to that, he was with utility company Carthage Water & Electric Plant. He’s a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, in which he served as a utilities systems specialist.

He reports to Paul Block, GSG president of sales, who said Oyler’s strong understanding of mechanical equipment and commitment to great customer service make him an excellent fit for the job.

Terry said, “I look forward to working with our GSG customers in the Western region and plan to build upon the great foundation of service established by Darryl.”
