L&P Promotes Company Officers, Restructures Business Segments

Industry supplier Leggett & Platt Inc., with headquarters in Carthage, Missouri, has promoted key members of its leadership team and restructured its business segments. The changes are effective Jan. 1, 2020.

Karl Glassman, president and chief executive officer, was named board chair and will remain CEO. Mitch Dolloff is assuming the role of president and continuing as chief operating officer. He also joins the board and will serve as president of Bedding Products, until a successor is named.

Steve Henderson is being named executive vice president and president of Specialized Products and a newly announced Furniture, Flooring & Textile Products segment. Currently, his title is president and president of the Automotive Group.

Glassman joined L&P in 1982 in Bedding Group sales and served in various positions of increasing responsibility within the Bedding Group over the next 17 years. As board chair, Glassman succeeds Ted Enloe who will become lead director. Enloe has been on Leggett’s board since 1996.

Dolloff joined the company in 2000 in the Mergers & Acquisitions department, then served in top management roles in Tubular Products, Specialized Products, Automotive and Furniture Products.

Henderson has been with L&P since 2017. Previously, he spent 30 years in leadership posts at Dow Automotive Systems.

“Over the past year we have announced several changes within the leadership team and among the board of directors,” Glassman said. “Through these changes we have added capabilities, expanded diversity and strengthened governance, all while preserving the important elements of our culture that have contributed to Leggett’s long-term success. Our vision is to build an organization to ensure a sustainable, long-term future.”

Concurrent with changes in executive leadership and internal reporting structures, L&P’s business segments have been reorganized.

The company is divided into three segments — Bedding Products; Furniture, Flooring & Textile Products and Specialized Products. The segments contain a total of seven groups — Aerospace Products Group, Automotive Group, Bedding Group, Flooring & Textile Product Group, Home Furniture Group, Hydraulic Cylinders Group and Work Furniture Group.

The Bedding Group has seven separate business units — U.S. Spring, International Spring, Specialty Foam, Adjustable Bed, Steel Rod, Drawn Wire and Machinery.

The Flooring & Textile Products Group contains three business units — Flooring Products, Fabric Converting and Geo Components.
