Avocado Green Debuts Zero Waste Furniture Line

Avocado Green has launched a collection of 100% zero waste furniture, handcrafted with upcycled solid beechwood remnants from Avocado Green’s Los Angeles woodshop.

The Zero Waste Collection includes a coffee table, wood stool, accent table, entryway table, bench, side table and vase. It’s part of Avocado’s goal to be the first mattress company to achieve Zero Waste to Landfill Certification by diverting more than 80 percent of its waste from the landfill — and to be one of the world’s most sustainable companies.

The bulk of the Zero Waste Collection uses upcycled beechwood, an abundant hardwood sourced in the U.S. The material is ideal for furniture; it’s both impact resistant and resilient. Avocado uses safe, non-toxic finishing materials that don’t emit volatile organic compounds, odors or other harmful toxins. None of the furniture uses particleboard or fiberboard, and no parts are hollow, according to the news release.

Through Avocado’s commitment to 1% For the Planet, the LA-based company donates 1% of all their sales to re:wild, a nonprofit that believes protecting and restoring the wild is the best solution to the climate and biodiversity crises. Every order also comes with free carbon negative shipping. As a Climate Neutral certified brand, Avocado reduces its footprint; offsets all its scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions; and advocates for legislation that will help fight the climate crisis.
