It’s Waynette Goodson. I’m the managing editor of BedTimes and Sleep Savvy magazines. Bob, Precision Textiles. You all have gotten so involved in sustainability recently. You’ve launched your Preserving the Planet initiative. So why don’t you tell our audience what all that is about?

Bob O’Connell
The Preserving the Planet initiative is an all-encompassing program that’s kind of the foundation of where we’re going in the future. We looked at retail and consumer trends, where consumers are looking for more natural, sustainable products. We then looked downstream to our suppliers and what they were doing to address that. And we’re trying to bridge that gap.

While Precision Textiles is mostly a component supplier to mattress manufacturers. We didn’t want to become an obstacle for them to help them address the consumer and retailer trends. So we embarked on this Preserving the Planet campaign with not only the products we produce but what else we can do as an organization to protect the planet and make it cleaner and greener for everybody and future generations to come.

Bob O’Connell
And that’s kind of how this was birthed.

Waynette Goodson
Now, I understand that you also decided to partner with Unify and Reprieve. Is that correct?

Bob O’Connell
That is correct. We took one of our product lines and re-engineered it using Reprieve fibers. The beauty of Reprieve is its high-performance fibers, which go into our products. So, the product maintained its performance standards. But having Reprieve as a partner is fantastic. We’re going to remove as many as 20 million water bottles from the waste stream.

So, it’s.

Waynette Goodson
Congratulations on that.

Bob O’Connell
Pretty exciting.

Waynette Goodson
20 million. Now, let’s talk about what is next.

Bob O’Connell
We’re looking at every product we’re producing today and how we can reduce waste with them. One of the products, for example, that we just invented is our No Sew Sock. With that technology, we’re able to remove waste from that product at some point in the future. We’d like to be carbon neutral. We haven’t set the date yet.

We’re looking at everything. Our manufacturing processes, the products we produce, our suppliers, and how we can get to that level. We’re not a huge company, and we’re not a small company either. But again, we have the same, you know, lofty goals as some of the major companies out there. And we’re pretty proud.

Waynette Goodson
Thank you so much. And, as always, get a great night’s sleep.
