HSM qualifies for state grant

Industry supplier HSM has announced it was selected to receive a performance-based grant of as much as $200,000 from the One North Carolina Fund. The fund is administered by the N.C. Department of Commerce with the goal of expanding economic activity and job growth in the state. Companies must meet job-creation and performance standards to qualify and the grants are contingent on being matched by local funds.

The Hickory, N.C.-based company plans to create 162 new jobs in the state and invest more than $3.3 million over the next three years in Hickory and Conover.

“It’s always encouraging to see companies with roots as deep as HSM continue to reinvest in our state,” said N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory. “Their commitment to innovative manufacturing and job creation will contribute to strong economic growth in Catawba County and across the entire state of North Carolina.”

Commenting on the grant, Dave Colburn, HSM president and chief executive officer said, “By investing in 162 new jobs, the build out of our Corporate Innovation and Technology Center, Foam Technical Center and the launch of new diversified products, we are underscoring our ability to deliver new materials and innovative manufacturing techniques that bring our customers’ design visions to life and enable them to respond rapidly to changing market demands.”
