Mattress major Serta Simmons Bedding LLC, with headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, has named Michael Traub president of National Bedding Co. (doing business as Serta International). He reports to Gary Fazio, Serta Simmons chief executive officer, and fills the role formerly held by Bob Sherman, who left the company about one year ago.

Traub brings 20 years of experience in high-end consumer durables, most of it with Germany’s BSH Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances Group, maker of Bosch, Gaggenau and Thermador appliances. Prior to joining Serta, he was president and chief executive officer for North America of Irvine, California-based BSH Home Appliances, a wholly owned subsidiary of Munich-based BSH. Concurrently, he served on the BSH board of directors in the United States and was chairman of the board in Canada. Previously, he held top management posts for BSH in China, Brazil, Germany and Singapore.

“As a seasoned executive with experience across sales, marketing, manufacturing, distribution and finance around the globe, Michael is ideally positioned to lead Serta and continue to nurture the company’s strong culture,” Fazio said. “He will provide strategic leadership, thoughtful insights into innovation and help us deliver profitable growth across the entire Serta portfolio of brands. The board and I are confident in Michael’s ability to work with his team to sustain Serta’s position as the top consumer bedding brand in the industry.”
