Americans sleeping less than previous generations

sleep chartYou’re not imagining it—Americans used to get more sleep.

While 59% got seven hours of sleep or more each night in 2013, that number used to be as high as 84% in 1942, according to a Gallup poll.

Americans currently average 6.8 hours of sleep at night, down more than an hour from 1942.
