The Van Vorst mattress luxury brand relaunched this spring by Eclipse International is now being introduced in Southeast Asia through a new licensing agreement with Luxury Sleep, a well-established sleep products manufacturer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Under the agreement, Luxury Sleep is adding the Van Vorst Mattress Co. of America line of mattresses to its portfolio and is manufacturing the brand in its 300,000-square-foot factory for distribution throughout Southeast Asia.
“We have a well-established relationship with Luxury Sleep with its brand portfolio including Eclipse International and the Ernest Hemingway line,” said Stuart Carlitz, chief executive officer of Eclipse International. “This expansion to include the Van Vorst line strengthens our partnership and puts the brand on solid footing to grow internationally. Luxury Sleep is among the leading mattress manufacturers in Asia, and we look forward to our growing partnership.”
The product line is priced to retail from $999 to $5,000 in queen size in the United States. Blue Ocean Sleep LLC, which is based in Sacramento, California, owns the Van Vorst name, and Eclipse International owns the rights to license the brand worldwide.
The two companies say they are committed to limiting distribution of the line to allow for exclusivity and strong margins.
“High-end U.S. luxury brands carry great appeal to Asian consumers,” Carlitz said. “The iconic Van Vorst line with its classic, luxurious design and construction will surely be successful in that market.”
Eclipse International, under its parent company Bedding Industries of America, based in North Brunswick, New Jersey, partnered with Blue Ocean earlier this year to bring back the Van Vorst line.
