Mattress manufacturer Gold Bond, based in Hartford, Conn., has expanded its futon covers to include recycled leather—a polyurethane product bonded with recycled leather fiber.
The new chocolate brown recycled leather option is scratch and stain resistant, washable with soap and water, and durable.
“Leather furniture is known for being the perfect blend of style and durability, making it a popular choice among consumers,” said Gold Bond President Bob Naboicheck. “However, traditional leather can cost significantly more than other furniture coverings. Recycled leather is a more affordable option and also an eco-friendly one.”
The recycled leather is available on any of Gold Bond’s 18 futon constructions. Choosing recycled leather adds about $100 to the futon’s retail price.
