The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued a final rule detailing the procedures for handling the whistleblower protection provisions of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act.
The rule, which became effective July 10 when it was published in the Federal Register, creates a process and sets timelines for whistleblowers and employers to receive and respond to retaliatory complaints. The rule replaces the interim whistleblower rule issued by OSHA in August 2010.
