National Basketball Association legend Eric “Sleepy” Floyd has joined sleep products developer and marketer Comfort Revolution as a brand ambassador.
The 13-year NBA veteran will represent the brand in key promotions and build awareness of the importance of a good night’s sleep among professional athletes, youth groups, companies and other organizations. The West Long Branch, N.J.-based company is developing Floyd’s marketing and promotional schedule for 2013, according to a news release.
“We respect all that Eric has accomplished on and off the court, and believe he’ll be a great match for a company whose hallmark is innovation,” said Michael Fux, Comfort Revolution chief executive officer and founder. “Besides, who better to talk about the value of a good night’s sleep than someone whose nickname is Sleepy?”
Before his record-breaking career in the NBA, Floyd was a star point guard at Georgetown University. He acquired his nickname when he was 8 years old during a baseball game, when the first pitch rolled between his legs at second base.
“I learned in the NBA you can’t perform at your best if you’re not sleeping well,” Floyd said. “I’ve been very impressed with Comfort Revolution products because they’re unlike anything else on the market. I’m excited to be working with a company that can make a real difference in people’s lives.”
