It’s that time again, the winter Las Vegas Market, when mattress and sleep products makers trot out their latest innovations, new product lines and line extensions.
Marilu Henner will sign copies of her latest book at the Spring Air showroom Sunday.
Judging from the number of press releases stored in my DropBox folder, it should be a news-filled show. Is it OK to say I’m exhausted–already?
I’m guessing Tempur-Pedic will unveil at least some of the innovations and line extensions it displayed at this month’s fair in Cologne. Sealy and Serta will most certainly surprise and delight, and Simmons has already offered sneak peeks at its ComforPedic iQ collection with Smart Response Technology. I’m looking forward to checking out new latex beds at OMI and Pure LatexBLISS, meeting Marilu Henner at a book-signing in the Spring Air showroom and having face time with one of the world’s fittest women, Camille Leblanc-Bazinet, at Protect-A-Bed. Leggett & Platt Consumer Products Group always brings out new decorative beds and headboards to admire and there’s a new pillow, too, I hear.

In fact, the number of news releases about pillow introductions makes you realize just how important this sleep accessory is to the industry–and I plan on rest-testing my tired head on many!
Fortunately, according to the latest sleep research as reported in Smithsonian magazine, there’s such a thing as ‘placebo sleep.‘ I rely on placebo sleep to get through these market marathons. All you have to do is believe you’ve slept well, and you’ll have better cognitive functioning and feel your best. I also strive for a more “blase attitude toward slumber” during the market because, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail, it’s the worry that does you in.
