Steve Henning
Luxury bed maker Vispring, with headquarters in Plymouth, England, has named Steve Henning as managing director. He assumed his new post Jan. 11, succeeding Mike Meehan, who helmed the company for 20 years.
Henning has lived and worked in Asia, Europe and North America, and brings considerable experience in the luxury interiors industry, the company said. Most recently, he was with British vacuum cleaner company Dyson Ltd., where he was global account director. Prior to that, he was president of Asia with the Franke Group, which specializes in high-end kitchen systems.
Henning’s experience will be of importance to Vispring as it continues a strategic international growth program that has doubled overseas sales in a decade, according to a news release.
Commenting on his new post, Henning said, “I am delighted to take the helm at Vispring. The quality of its offering and the expertise of its skilled craftsmen ensure that the product speaks for itself. Our goal is to not only build the Vispring brand in new markets and forge new retail partnerships, but, more fundamentally, to establish the luxury bed segment to ensure the Vispring brand is synonymous with luxury sleep across all markets.”
Rafael Gonzalez Beteré, chief executive officer of the Flex Group, the Spanish parent company of Vispring, added, “Under Mike’s management, Vispring has gone from strength to strength, growing and establishing a global footprint and category leadership that Steve will further expand.”
After a transition period, Meehan will continue to assist the Flex Group as a board member of Vispring and sister company, U.K. retailer And So To Bed. During his tenure as managing director, Meehan is credited with steadily expanding the business and establishing the Vispring brand internationally.
